On Friday, April 14, 2023, around 8:00 am, the Tracy Police Department responded to a report of a vandalism at Tom Hawkins Elementary School in the 400 block of Darlene Ln in Tracy.

Upon arrival, officers located graffiti, with racial hate overtones, on school grounds.  Officers, detectives from the General Investigations Unit and school staff quickly collaborated and identified Angel Aguilar (18 years old of Tracy) and a 17-year-old juvenile as being involved in the vandalism.

Detectives located Aguilar and the juvenile at a local residence around 12:15 PM this afternoon and took them into custody without incident.  Aguilar was later booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for 422.7(b) PC, Vandalism/Hate Crime.  The juvenile was booked into juvenile hall for the same charge.

Tracy Police Chief Millington said “We will never tolerate any act of hatred or bias-motivated crime in our community.  Our patrol officers and investigators immediately started working on this case and, with the assistance of staff from the Jefferson School District, were able to make arrests within hours of the crime being discovered.”
