Suspects Arrested in Connection to Mail Theft at Local Apartment

On December 27, 2022, a Tracy Police Department Officer assigned to Patrol responded to reported mail theft at an apartment complex located in the 2900 block of West Lowell Avenue, where multiple mailboxes at the apartment complex were found to have been broken into. Based on photos from nearby security cameras, suspect vehicle information was developed and associated with a residence in Stockton. Suspects were identified as Edgardo Diaz (35 years old of Stockton) and Sabrina Burns (27 years old of Stockton) as suspects.

Once Diaz and Burns were identified the Tracy Police Department Special Enforcement Team (SET) worked quickly to author and serve a search warrant for the Stockton residence with assistance from the General Investigations Unit (GIU) on December 29, 2022. Through their search, officers located dozens of victims of mail and identity theft, along with 30 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded un-serialized P80 Glock-style pistol.

SET Officers have contacted the United States Postal Service Inspector’s Office for assistance contacting victims and consideration of federal charges.

Diaz was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on the following charges:

PC 530.5(C)(3) – Possess ID of 10 or More Persons with the Intent to Defraud, PC 29800(A)(1) – Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, PC 30305(A)(1) – Felon in Possession of Ammunition, and HS 11378 – Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale. Burns was booked into county jail on the following charges: PC 530.5(C)(2) Use Others ID with Intent to Defraud: With Prior Conviction, PC 530.5(C)(3) – Possess ID of 10 or More Persons with the Intent to Defraud, PC 30305(A)(1) – Felon in Possession of Ammunition, HS 11378 – Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale.
