Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

General Information

Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) is a volunteer organization within the Tracy Police Department. VIPS members have volunteered over eight thousand hours each year since 2004, when the organization was founded as part of the department’s Community Oriented Policing philosophy.

VIPS are men and women over 21 years-of-age, who assist the Police Department’s crime prevention efforts by donating a minimum of 16 hours per month. VIPS receive twenty (20) hours of classroom training conducted by Police Department Staff.

VIPS patrol city streets, parking lots, parks, and schools serving as additional eyes and ears for the Tracy Police Department. VIPS also provide information and assistance to the community in various ways.
