The goal of the Crime Prevention Unit, led by our Crime Prevention Specialist, is to reduce crime in Tracy through public awareness and preventative measures. This unit serves as a community liaison by providing services to the Tracy community that reduce crime and improve the quality of life. Our Crime Prevention Specialist is dedicated to educating the public on how to safely take steps that improve the security of neighborhoods and businesses by appearing less desirable to criminals making them more resistant to crime through offering Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design assessments.
We aim to enhance the safety, security, and quality of life for the residents and visitors of the City of Tracy through various programs, which include communication via social media, community relations, the Community Police Academy, the Prescription Drug Take Back Program, Identity Theft Prevention Document Shredding events, police department tours, safety fairs, Combat Auto Theft Program, neighborhood outreach initiatives, such as National Night Out.
The Crime Prevention Unit also visits businesses to offer safety tips and recommend security measures. Our Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) Program operate within the Crime Prevention Unit.
