Tracy Police Department Investigates Homicide Near Construction Site

UPDATE- Investigators from GIU gathered information that led to the arrest of Cesar Martinez, (18 years old of Tracy) and a 17-year-old juvenile.  Martinez was arrested in Tracy by members of the Tracy Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and Special Enforcement Team (SET) on May 31, 2023, around 7:45 pm.

Martinez was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for murder, kidnapping, and carjacking.  The juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall for the same charges.

The victim of the homicide was identified as Rodrigo Padilla Diaz, (52 years old of Tracy).  The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Tracy Police Department.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, around 08:00 am, the Tracy Police Department responded to a report of a suspected dead body on Corral Hollow Road south of Interstate 580 near the Tracy Hills construction site. Upon arrival, patrol officers located an unidentified male who was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

Detectives from the General Investigations Unit (GIU) and investigators from the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and determined the male was the victim of a homicide. The incident is believed to be an isolated incident, and there is no risk to the community at large.

Investigators will be working throughout the day and night in the area. We ask drivers along Corral Hollow Road to watch their speeds for everyone’s safety.
