Officers Arrest Suspect for Domestic Violence Incident

On March 20, 2023, at approximately 4:57 pm, Tracy Police Department Patrol Officers were dispatched to a call in the 1900 block of Bridle Creek Circle regarding a domestic violence report.

Through the investigation, Tracy PD Officers learned that the victim, Jane Doe, was brutally assaulted over the course of the day by her boyfriend, identified as Michael Anthony Garcia (39 years old of Tracy).

During the assault, Garcia killed the victim’s dog and made several threats to kill the victim.  Once Garcia fled the residence, the victim called a family member, who called 9-1-1 on her behalf.

With assistance from the Tracy Police Department’s General Investigation Unit (GIU), Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and Special Enforcement Team (SET), Garcia was located and arrested in the 400 block of West Kavanaugh Avenue the following day. Garcia was booked into county jail on the following charges:

PC 206 – Torture

PC 273.5 – Corporal injury on spouse/partner

PC 245(a)(2) – Assault with a deadly weapon (firearm)

PC 422 – Criminal Threats

PC 136.1(a)(1) – Victim intimidation

PC 597(a) – Animal cruelty

PC 207 – Kidnapping

PC 591.5 – Obstruction a person from calling 9-1-1

PC 29800 – Convicted felon in possession of a firearm

Due to the sensitive nature of the crimes being investigated and to protect the victim in this case, no additional information will be released.
